- ABI
- Average Buy-In — the mean buy-in of the tournaments you play.
B
- Bad beat
- Losing a hand you were a strong favourite to win.
- bb/100
- Big blinds won per 100 hands — a standard measure of win rate.
C
- Cooler
- A hand where two very strong holdings clash and a big loss is unavoidable.
F
- Flop
- The first three community cards dealt face up, and the betting round that follows.
I
- ICM
- Independent Chip Model — a way to convert tournament chips into real-money equity.
P
- Position
- Your seat relative to the dealer button, which dictates when you act.
- Preflop
- The first betting round, before any community card is dealt.
R
- Range
- The full set of hands a player can hold in a given situation.
- River
- The fifth and final community card, and its betting round.
S
- Showdown
- When remaining players reveal their cards to determine the winner.
T
- Turn
- The fourth community card, and its betting round.
